Parent and Child/ren group for under 5's
Our fun & friendly playgroup meets in the church on Friday mornings, during term time, from 9.30-11.00am.
We are very happy to announce that we are now able to restart Caterpillar Cafe again and plan for our first session to begin on Friday 7th May, from 9:30am - 11am. There will be toys available, crafts, story time and songs and a chance to meet other parents.
With the new guidance in place, Caterpillar Cafe will look quite different from how it did before lockdown. But we really hope it will be a good opportunity for children to play and be around others their age in a safe environment and for parent's to get to know each other too.
Under the new guidance we can only accommodate 15 parents (unfortunately at this time we cannot accept childminders) and sign up is essential
. We will prioritise anyone who has already contacted us wishing to attend Caterpillar Cafe, and run the group with the same 15 parents each week for 4 sessions before half term. Then, after half term, we may need to change the group attending in order to include those who we could not fit into the first term. The cost for the 4 sessions this term is £5.
The new guidance means that:
- only 15 parents may attend
- face masks must be worn by anyone aged 11+ at all times
- social distancing of 2 metres must
- we will be dividing up our space to create smaller groupings in order to minimise the spread of COVID19. Each group will move around each zone during the morning and we will end up with story, snack time and singing.
- food and drink is unable to be served, but you may bring your own for your children to eat at snack time.
If we are unable to accommodate you in the current sessions, there is also the opportunity to go for small group walks in the woods in Forest Church (see below). Alternatively we also have an allotment
, which we are setting up for small groups to attend for children to explore outdoors and get growing!
Please email Nicky
(email@example.com), our Youth and Children's Minister, to register your interest. It would be helpful for you to let us know if you would prefer Caterpillar Cafe, Forest Church or the allotment, how many children you have and their ages and, if you are unable to come to Caterpillar Cafe on a Friday, which other days and times would suit you.
This is an idea that Nicky, our Youth and Children's Minister, has been wanting to start for a while, and whilst we are struggling to meet indoors in large groups, it is much easier to meet outside, so what better time to start?!
We meet at church then walk to the woods across the road (not suitable for buggies) and take some time to explore, be creative and hear stories from the bible and about the outdoors - like Stick Man! Suitable for ages 0-4, we will try to match up children of similar ages. Due to the nature of the activity children will either need to walk or be carried, so we would recommend baby wearing. We are restricted by government guidelines and currently only taking groups of 6 (including children/babies and the leader). Hopefully when restrictions ease we can meet in larger groups.
If you would like to find out more, please contact Nicky (firstname.lastname@example.org). Sessions last around 1.5hrs and are flexible to try and accommodate everyone. We are only just getting this up and running and have limited volunteers due to COVID19, so frequency may not be weekly. We hope to see you in the woods for a wild time!
